The Indestructible Plant

People have always had a problem with these flowers growing in their yards for at least 50 years now. People spray stuff to get rid of them and do everything but these white and yellow flowers always seem to pop up somehow in your yard. Like I said they come in two different colors which is yellow and white. The white ones as you can see are puffy and are very fragile and can be blown away very easily. Where the yellow ones are more thick and shaped like a flower and don't get blown away as easily. These flowers grow in buches and usually have hundreds of them grow at a time in peoples front and back yards.

Reptile 2

Sitting on a rock by our watering hole was a decent sized lizard called a eastern water dragon. This lizard can grow up to 20 cm long And it's tail can be 2.5 times longer than it's body length. The tail is used to help swimming and also helps it to escape danger. This lizard is very shy and usually runs away from anything bigger than itself. When these lizard sense danger they often run from the prey or drop from a branch into the water. The water dragon mostly eats smaller bugs and insects. The lizards young are called hatchlings And usually produce from 6-18 eggs at a time. I thought this lizard was cool and interesting and hope to see one again.

Reptile 1

While we were out during the night hunting for food, we saw a small whitish red snake hanging from a branch of a tree. It was a brown tree snake and it was mean. The snake wasn't very big, it was about 2 meters long and not very wide at all. We found out these snakes are nocturnal and only come out at night. There coloring range from white to yellow to red and can even be brown sometimes. Not very many animals prey on this snake because of how high in the tree it stays. This snake preys on small mammals, birds, eggs, nestlings and lizards. These snakes young are called hatchlings and about around 20 are born at a time.

Bird 4

This bird I saw was called a white headed pigeon. I saw it high up in a tree sitting on a branch calling for a mate. It's cousin is the domesticated pigeon which is the almost same size and color. I could tell it was a smaller bird and wasn't very round. It had a red and yellow beak and it's body was white with a little bit of black to it. These birds don't get preyed on a lot because they're always so high up in the trees. They eat small bugs such as warms and spiders. The young of these birds are called either squabs or squeakers. This bird was pretty and was also very loud up in the tree.

Mammal 4

There are a lot of animals always running around outside our house. This time we saw an animal called a musky rat kangaroo moving around the ground. This animal was a decent size and could move pretty quick. This animal was brown, grey, white and black and had a bushy tail. These animals like to climb trees and live life up above ground level. These animals are usually found near creeks and rivers and are out during the mornings. The usual animals such as large cats and large snakes eat these animals. These kangaroos eat plants from trees and also eat small invertebrates. The young of these kangaroos are called Joey's. It was the second kind of a kangaroo I've seen since I've been here and hopefully I'll see a lot more.

Bird 3

We heard a loud bird outside making noise that woke us up one morning. I looked outside and saw a small bird on a branch on a tree close to our house. This bird usually comes around during the morning at around 5:00. Like I said this bird was fairly small and had a coloring of brown and lighter brown. Normal size animals such as wild dogs, wild hogs and other animals prey upon these birds. These birds eat worms and smaller bugs and drink the nectar out of the flowers to survive. The young of these birds are called chicks and hatch around 4 eggs at a time. This bird was interesting and I look forward to seeing it again.

Mammal 3

One day when I was walking my dog we went around a corner of the forest and my dog started growling. He was looking into the woods and spotted something in the bushes. Out of nowhere two dogs jumped out and tried to attack me and my dog. We ran and eventually lost them and were safe. I learned these dogs were wild dogs called rainforest dingos. They are pretty good sized dogs and are usually tan or light brown. These dogs are pretty high up in the food chain and hunt in packs. Larger cats and larger snakes are the only things that prey upon these dogs. These dogs diets consist of 60% mammals and the rest of their diets consist of small reptiles and birds. These dogs usually breed during the winter and have 3 to 4 pups at a time. These dogs I learned are pretty dangerous and I now know to stay away from them.

Bird 2

This bird I saw the other day was called a grey headed robin. This bird was unusual because most robins are bright colors like red or yellow and this one was grey and brown. It was a small bird compared to some of the other birds in the rainforest. This bird mostly eats worms and other small insects that it can chew up. Larger animals like big cats and large reptiles like pythons and anacondas prey upon these birds. These robins young are called chicks and usually hatch around 6 at one time. This bird was pretty amazing with its calls and the noises it made sometimes.

Insect 2

While my family and I were going out for a swim in the local pond I came upon a giant huntsman spider on a rock I climbed on. This spider was very big and brown and was very flat to the rock. It had very long legs and looked like it was really fast. I learned this spider Doesn't make webs which enables it to chase down it's prey and catch it. I learned that their diet mainly consists of insects and small animals that it can handle. Larger animals like panthers and large snakes like pythons are the treats to this spider. I don't really like spiders so I'm going to try to stay away from these big things.

Bird 1

One night while I was sleeping I kept on hearing a bird outside our house probably calling for a mate. This bird looked similar to a parrot but I could tell it wasn't one. It was red, blue, and black and was a decent sized bird. I found out it was called a crimson rosella and was a common bird in the Australian rainforest. I found out that it mainly eats seeds from herbs and small trees. I also learned that these birds are known to be threatened by cats, dogs, and small foxes. The young of these birds are in groups called juveniles which is the flock of the birds. I thought this bird was interesting with the way it did stuff but it was kinda loud with it's calling for a mate time at night.

Mammal 2

I was walking through the rainforest and out of the corner of my eye I saw a small animal flying right at me. It flew right over my head and landed on a tree to the right of me. It looked like A small possum that could fly! It was a pretty neat looking animal and I liked it. I found out it was called a sugar glider and lives in mainly Australia and also a couple islands around Indonesia. These animals are nocturnal so they sleep mainly through the day and sleep at night. These animals are a tan color, have a bushy tail, and have blue eyes. Larger animals like panthers and reptiles like pythons and anacondas eat these animals. The sugar glider eats mostly plants and small bugs. The babies are called joeys and usually have two at a time when they're born.

Mammal 1

While my family and I were walking through the rainforest we came upon a strange animal that looked between a bear and kangaroo. It was brown and orange and was a good size animal. It liked to jump and swing around the branches of the trees. It was eating mainly leaves and fruits and drank the water off the leaves of the trees. We could tell it was a slower animal because of it's tail and the weight of it. It was an interesting animal and I'm looking forward to seeing one again.

Insect 1

This giant bug I found is a passalid beetle that lives in the rainforest. These bugs are usually found in wet tropical and subtropical areas and they like to feed on decaying wood. When I saw the beetle I wanted to see how big it was and it was about as big as the palm of my hand.I could tell where they had been because of the saw dust at the bottom of the log. Everyone of them I've seen have been black and all the same size.

Transportation Facts

One of the ways I'm going to travel is by boat. I'm going to travel by boat from Denmark across the ocean to Russia and then from Russia around Asia all the way to Australia. The boat me and my family are going to be using is made from mostly wood and some metal. The transportation will be slow but it will get us to where we want to go. It will probably take us two who days to row all the way around Asia to Australia but we will eventually get there. The ride will be cold and rough but enable for us to get to a warm place we need to stick through it. The best part of the ride will probably be the scenery and the worst will probably be the cold weather around Russia and Asia.

Travel Route

My travel plans are quite difficult going from Copenhagen, Denmark to Cairns, Australia. My plan is to go up and around Russia and swing down around Asia and end up in Cairns, Australia. I will go by boat across the ocean to Russia then walk the whole distance from the top of Russia to the bottom. Once I get to the bottom of Russia I plan to take a boat around Asia and end up in Australia. Once I get to Australia I plan to walk all the way to Cairns and plan my life there.
